Kelly was born in Singapore in 1974 where her parents were living for the duration of her father’s contracted time making television commercials for an Australian filming company. Coming to Australia at the age of two and a half, she grew up in Brisbane aspiring at a young age to be a dancer.
For many years she toured Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Great Britain with various trios, duos, cabarets and tribute shows as both a dancer and as a singer. After marrying in Las Vegas in 2004, Kelly now resides back in Brisbane with her husband and daughter, working as a singer and songwriter with two separate ensembles.
“Writing is something that has always come naturally to me. My mother, a published playwright and columnist always told me I had a ‘lovely turn of phrase’ from quite a young age. This only encouraged me. As a teenager I began furiously writing poetry as a means of venting my young philosophical mind. These turned easily into songs as music became an enormous part of my working life and when my father died in 2004, I began the task of writing the story of his incredible personal journey so as not to forget it and so that I can pass it on to my daughter one day. I am fascinated by people’s stories. Everybody is unique and has a journey of their own which consumes them for a lifetime. Writing actual biographies is something I aspire to venture into, in the meantime however it’s good fun just to make these stories up!” – Kelly Modulon
